Video Game Company Stores and all that Jazz

Hello everyone, these days video game companies not only provide us with games hit every hit within every year but they started provide memorabilia, now that being said we got to go back in time (Yes i know today is the day Marty Mcfly goes from October 26 1985 to June 28 2012 to the Future and if you don't know this reference then your not a fan of the 80's, or not born in the 80's or you don't know what the movie Back to the Future means to Geeks in the early years... yes i went there HA) anyway back in the days when i was game playing where trophies or achievements in a game was to just finish the game, i use to go to China town and picked up video game memorabilia of my favorite games, keep in mind some or most of this memorabilia were in fact either knock offs or the real thing but mostly knock offs. these days video game companies now want to give you the same merchandise but for 2times the price and the truth of the matter is not all of the merchandise is any good. which brings me to this article. Word on the interweb is that Konami the makers of those something something revolution games, Castlevanina and the infamous Metal Gear Solid franchise just opened their first North American online store.

https://shop.konami.com/

Now the store is out but has very little of merchandise. Maybe like one poster of the game. and this is where im getting at. Why would we go to a video game store that doesn't support all the merchandise dedicated to the game? i can only think of a few video game company stores that support the memorabilia, for instance Square Enix Store USA. it has almost all the merchandise of your favorite video games from their brother site store in Japan ( Also keep in mind Japan has a real store in Shibuya-ku area which is every geeks dream to visit)NOW THIS IS VIDEO GAME COMPANY STORE SHOP!!!
http://www.square-enix-shop.com/
Another Company is probably Capcom Store this place is also awesome for the latest on your favorite games merchandise. and give you deals on old memorabilia
http://shop.capcom.com
i hope Konami sees that there is an opportunity to make their store shine like their competitors. all they need is... "the push" (yes you youngsters if you didn't see the Avengers Movie Yet.... why are you reading this blog HA and go see Back to the Future you wont regret it- Mel)

The Amazing Spider-man's Amazing review..

Back in 2000 Activision created some thing spectacular something amazing something very web crawling they created the first ever spiderman game. A couple of years later they came out with a sequel then eventually they came out with the first movie tie in. But in 2004 when Spider-man 2 came out they created something spectacular. The Spider-man 2 video game this game was amazing it was everything that you could possibly want out of a Spider-man game fast forward 8 years and say hello to The Amazing Spider-man this game follows the events of Peter parker and characters introduced after what happens in the movie so when playing I suggest you tread lightly or you wait to see the movie first..

But like I was saying the game takes place where the movie ends Spider-man has to help clean up the city due to the fact that Connors is a a douche. Again tread lightly unless you are not going to see the film but lets be legit about this you are so going to see the film.. Like I was saying though you have to save the city from an infection that is going around because Connors experiments are on the loose you travel through many of the NYC local well except for the Bronx because who really wants to go there. The island of Manhattan where a lot of the game takes place is very detailed and very lively.

The gameplay is very linear though you do mission sort of like in GTA you can do them anyway you want but they follow a straight path. The fighting mechanic is very much like Arkham Asylum or Arkham City you press single button combination to do wild combos but the only problem is that they are not as in-depth as those games but they are fun though. The biggest and the best part of the gameplay though is the web-slinging much like in Spider-man 2 you have total freedom of the city and web-slinging is king it is amazing thanks to the new camera that follows Spider-man you feel like you are really that high up and you get a sense of vertigo it might not arise in all of you but it is there and it adds a new spin on the game.

All in all this is a great game to add to your collection it is fun, breathtaking and it gives you a sense of being Spider-man that alone was the main reason I got this game. If you do get this game I would say wait till you see the movie or for you guys who feel they wouldnt get their moneys worth wait till the game is on sale or rent it..

Adventure Time with Finn and Jake the exciting review.

Back in 2010 cartoon network decided to run a cartoon so awesome so grand that it was called adventure time. The show had such a slow start but much like other cartoon on cartoon network it got critical acclaim and eventually it was nominated for 5 emmy's yes that is right emmy's. Now 2 years later the first season is now on dvd.

Set to release in early July the set is 2 discs packed with 26 episodes of pure awesomeness also along with the episodes the set is packed with commentary and footage and I mean a lot of footage.
My take on the dvd set is pure awesomeness I will never forget the first time that I saw this cartoon i was watching it with my nephews and they were saying Uncle DonMark you have to watch this with us me not being much of a fan of cartoon network stuff that was currently airing besides venture brothers. I fell in love. The packaging for the set is pretty simple the outside cover makes it look like Finn and as you take the covers off the inside cover looks like Susan Strong. What really stood out for me is that the discs look like the inside of the actual person which is both awesome and zainy for cartoon network. Showing that even though this a kids cartoon they still have a mature side to show.

All in all this is a wonderful set and the price point for such and abundance of episodes is amazing and totally worth the wait.. Again the set is set to release in July and stay tuned we might be giving away our review copy..

Arkham City: Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC Review

Hello everyone after finally purchasing Arkham City: Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC i can finally give yo my verdict on this side bonus of goodness. Arkham City: Harley Quinn's Revenge takes place after the end of Arkham City where Batman is quite not all there since the passing of he arch nemesis the Joker. Harley Quinn kidnapped a few cops and Commissioner Gordon needs the cape crusaders help yet again in order to bring the clown's sidekick/lover to justice. You actually start the game as Robin the Cape crusaders partner. Word from Oracle is Batman went missing for 2 days. So now you know the story, on with the Game play, in the DLC you play both Robin and Batman in different times, Robin is unique on his own accord with different abilities and gadgets, yes its not many then Batman but the variety it does have makes the Boy Wonder a serious foe. Sound is as good as the original and voice acting is as always superb. you get about 2 to 3 hours of game story bat goodness and for the price of $10 dollars its worth it. That my friends is a recession special. you can't go wrong with that. if your a big fan of the game and franchise you will need to buy this DLC to completely finish Arkham City since it adds more value to the whole game. -Mel

Buxom girls, Short Skirts. and Zombies..

What really is there not to like about Lollipop Chainsaw. The ironic thing is that there are quite a few things to not like about the newest game from acclaimed director Suda 51.

The game centers around Juliet Starling she is a cheerleader at San Romero Highschool. On her birthday of all days there is a Zombie attack in her town and she unlike all the others that are becoming zombies is a trained zombie hunter. But her efforts a futile as she doesnt act fast enough to save her boyfriend Nick. After Nick is bitten Juliet has no choice but to lop off Nick's head and preform a spell on it so he can survive without a body. Yes that is just one of the many zany things in the game.

The graphics are pretty standard for a game like this the cinemas are pretty good and the loading screens are a mix of sometimes gameplay and cel-shading. The gameplay is full of a mix of easy combos and timed events where you have to put Nick on a zombie body and get him to move something heavy or lift Juliet up. The voice acting is very well done and the script for the game is funny as hell but I am sorry to say you hear alot of it over and over again. Which is kinda normal for a game like this.

One of my biggest dislikes about this game is that the camera is terrible it is a lot of angles and turning that impairs the player and a lot of the time causes you to get angry. The only good thing about the camera is that you can use it to look up the skirt of Juliet. But due to the programing she will hold her skirt down or cover up lol.  All in all Lollipop chainsaw is a pretty good game and is a great play for about 5 to 10 hours for that one reason I would say wait till it gets cheaper to buy the game or rent it and have some fun for a couple of days if you do buy the game and add it to your collection you wont be disappointing because there is plenty to play and plenty to collect in the game..

Stay tuned for my review of The first season of Adventure Time

Until Next Time Geeks.....

Avengers the Media Empire

So let me start out by admitting a couple of things. One I've been updating a lot of stuff through different outlets. So passport, resume, medical info and all that real life stuff. The online life of games, forums, even signing up for goodreads to get my book reading in order. Even not keeping up with my blogging duties is something I admit too. But my biggest admittance is... I thought the Avengers movie was going to suck! Not fall short of expectations just suck. I can admit, I was wrong.

Why did I think the Avengers was going to suck? Besides it being the first time multiple movie franchises were brought together into one franchise. Besides one character having two films which achieved a rather large amount of success. While one character had two movies, two actors, and now a third actor playing the role for the first time. Not to mention all of the other supporting cast of super soldiers and gods who just and movies released one year earlier. My biggest question mark was the director.

I'm not a Joss Whedon guy, another thing I admit. Serenity/Firefly is a live action Outlaw Star, so the story doesn't impress me. Dollhouse was a Ghost in the Shell imitator. The zombie space monsters from the Firefly movie were too just that space zombies. The Flood from Halo were more scary than those things. And no, I did not watch Buffy, I only saw some parts of Angel, so I don't have anything bad to say about them. The point is he hadn't done anything that would make me think that he could do a good Avengers movie. And don't get me started on his Astonishing X-Men run, space bullet is all I'll say about that.

There were other things working against him so when he was chosen to direct Avengers my expectations fell through the floor. There would be the eventual casting of Eliza Dushku is some capacity probably as the Wasp. The story would devolve into bad comic book cliches which would have reversed all the work done by the Incredibles to destroy most of those cliches. Every corny trick in the book would have been brought to the screen. Which would have been just what the naysayers would need as another nail in the coffin for the comic movie. Instead the Avengers pleased the critics, amazed the fans, silenced all the doubters (myself included) and has now sealed the Avengers as a new mega franchise for Marvel films and its parent company Disney.

This has been a long term plan on the part of Marvel comics. Relaunching the Avengers comics with the Disassembled line now almost a decade ago. To the movies Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, and Thor all laying down the ground work for the actors involved. With the expected budget surpassing $100 million dollars this could have been a disaster beyond John Carter. Having the right person at the helm was extremely crucial. Joss Whedon had two films in his director credits and they weren't commercial successes. This needed to be a grand slam of championship winning proportions, and it was.

So now the world can expect more Marvel comics. More movies starring characters from Marvel comics. Joss Whedon now has crossed over from geek icon to sought after A-list writer/director. The actors can expect steady work for the next number of years in sequels and other movies. And Disney will look to expand the other properties in it's library by somehow attaching them to the Avengers. And of course more Avengers movies until it's time for a reboot preferably Ultimates style. So I was wrong, I admit it. Now we all have to wait hear the battle cry, "Avengers Assemble", but we won't have to wait for long.
